About Mission Innovate Punjab

The State of Punjab is known for its leadership position in the country with rapid strides in all round growth and prosperity. The State has done remarkably well in sectors across the spectrum such as Agriculture, Industry, Health, Education, Sports, Arts, Literature and Culture. The State has excellent infrastructure, human capital, progressive and enterprising people, who can transform every potential opportunity into success. Punjabi diaspora is spread across the world and has carved out a niche for itself.

The Government of Punjab is now focussed on developing the State as Hub of Research and Innovation. It has accordingly conceptualized Mission Innovate Punjab, to build an ecosystem, which will synergise a complex set of relationships among key actors in the system such as Government, Universities and Research Institutions, Industries, Human Capital and Finance.

Mission Innovate Punjab will bring the distinct cultures Academia, Industry and Government together to drive Knowledge Economy of the State.Mission Innovate Punjab will strive towards developing a robust ecosystem for research and innovation in the State which will enhance competitiveness, boost growth and create jobs.

Punjab Chamber of Commerce and Industries (PCCI) has joined hands with Government of Punjab to promote Mission Innovate Punjab and in pursuance of the same, Innovation and Technology Summit 2019is being jointly organized.

Punjab Innovation & Technology Summit 2019

The Government of Punjab organized ‘Punjab INNOVATION and TECHNOLOGY Summit 2019’ on 05.11.2019 at The Lalit Hotel, Chandigarh.  The Summit was inaugurated by  S. Manpreet Singh Badal, Finance Minister, Punjab amidst high-profile dignitaries and National & International experts from Government, Academia, Industry and Innovation and Research Organizations.
The Summit was organized under the Mission Innovate Punjab. Sh. R.K. Verma, Principal Secretary, Department of Science & Technology, Punjab informed that the Mission has been  launched with an aim to build a robust ecosystem for research and innovation in the State by synergising relationships among Academia, including universities & research institutions, Industries including start-ups and established businesses, Government departments which includes facilitating departments and Funding agencies. The Mission will strive to enhance competitiveness, boost growth and create quality jobs. In addition, an exhibition of start-ups and innovations, powered by the Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET) was organized for universities, research institutions and industries to showcase the strength of Punjab’s innovation ecosystem. More than 50 eminent speakers from across the globe assembled for the Summit and shared their views and experiences in the field of research & innovation. Some of these personalities included Dr. Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer, MHRD, Govt. of India, Dr. M.P. Poonia, Vice Chairman, AICTE, Dr. Girish Sahni, Former Director General, CSIR; Prof. Youngjin Yoo, Department of Design & Innovation, Case Western Reserve University, USA; Ms Ratika Jain, CEO, Global Innovation & Technology Alliance; Prof. (Dr.) Henry H.
