Punjab State Action Plan on Climate Change

Punjab State Council for Science & Technology is coordinating the programme for preparation of state level Strategy and Action Plan on Climate Change (SAPCC) as per the frame work of Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt. of India in line with National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC). Under this programme action plan has been prepared covering Eight National Missions namely National Solar Mission, National Mission for Enhanced Energy Efficiency, National Mission on Sustainable Habitat, National Water Mission, National Mission for Sustaining the Himalayan Ecosystem, National Mission for a Green India, National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture and National Mission on Strategic Knowledge for Climate Change identified by the Ministry involving concerned State departments and in consultation with GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft for Internationale Zusammenarbeit) and Consulting Engineering Services India Pvt. Ltd. (CES). A stakeholders’ workshop-cum-public hearing to discuss issues covered in the SAPCC was organised on December 24th, 2012 at Chandigarh. The Action Plan has been endorsed by the National Steering Committee on Climate Change. Punjab State Climate Change Knowledge Center has been set up in the Council with support from the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.
