Popular Biotechnology Lecture Series

Biotechnology has emerged as a powerful tool for sustainable socio-economic transformation. It is one of the 25 sectors covered under, “Make in India” program aimed at making the country a global manufacturing hub. The Department of Biotechnology, GoI) has unveiled the National Biotechnology Development Strategy 2015-20 outlining the approach for promoting new products & processes development of infrastructure and building capacities in this sector.

It is thus imperative that information pertaining to recent developments in different domains of biotechnology be made available to students & teachers of life sciences. The Council organized 22nd Popular Biotechnology Lecture Series on ‘Innovations and IPRs in Biotechnology’ at Khalsa College, Patiala on 26th February, 2016 and 23rd lecture series on ‘Bio-energy’ at DAV College, Amritsar on 3rd March, 2017.  The lecture series were followed by elaborate question-answer session. These programs were attended by 500 students and teachers from various educational institutions of respective districts.  A compilation of these lectures were brought out in the form of booklets which were distributed to the participants.
