Message for participation in Earth Hour 2018

Earth Hour is the world’s largest grassroots movement towards the environment, held annually encouraging individuals, communities, and businesses to turn off non-essential electric lights for one hour between 8:30pm to 9:30 pm on a specific day towards the end of March, as a symbol of commitment to the planet. It is a global initiative of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). This year, Earth Hour will be observed on Saturday, March 24th from 8:30 pm-9:30 pm.

On the occasion of Earth Hour, 2018, WWF-India and Convention on Biological Diversity(CBD)  Secretariat has also launched a three year  campaign leading into 2020 titled  ‘Give Up to Give Back’ and Connect to Earth (#connect2earth). The campaign aims to scale up biodiversity communication to mobilize the world in support of biodiversity conservation and deliver a common vision - “by 2020, people are aware of the values of biodiversity and take steps to conserve and use it sustainably”

Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST) & Punjab Biodiversity Board (PBB) urge all organizations, institutions and individuals to join Earth Hour, 2018 campaign “Give Up to Give Back’ & Connect to Earth (#connect2earth)   by curbing some habits, practices and lifestyles that burden our lives & environment and switch off of all non-essential lights between 8:30 to 9:30pm on March 24th, 2018 to mark support for Earth Hour 2018.
