Energy Audit of The Tribune Complex, Chandigarh

PSCST carried out the detailed Energy Audit of The Tribune Complex, Chandigarh to study the existing energy consumption pattern and identify energy conservation measures. PSCST team carried out the Detailed Energy Audit jointly with the CII AVANTHA Centre, Chandigarh wherein all major energy intensive Equipments like Transformers, Compressors, Pumps, Capacitors, Motors, & Lightening etc were studied. 


Energy Audit of M/s. Tiwana Oil Mills Pvt. Ltd., Village-Kharori, Distt. Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab 

PSCST carried out the detailed Energy Audit of M/s. Tiwana Oil Mills Pvt. Ltd. Village-Kharori, Distt.- Fatehgarh Sahib to study the existing energy consumption pattern and identify energy conservation measures. 


Post Energy Audit for submersible water pumps at water supply schemes in Mohali

Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) had assigned us the task of conducting audit studies of 15 existing submersible pumps in Mohali. PSCST conducted the pre energy audit and submitted the energy audit report to PEDA with recommendations to replace submersible pumps. A total energy saving potential of 2.83 lakh kWh worth Rs.19.84 lakh has been envisaged.


Impact Assessment Report of Energy Conservation Activities in Punjab 

Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) assigned task of “Preparation of report on Impact of Energy Conservation Activities in the State of Punjab during F.Y. 2013-14” to PSCST. The project involved preparation of report after collecting data from Government Departments, R&D Institutes, Industries, Designated Consumers, Accredited Energy Auditors, Hospitals, Hotels and Malls regarding the energy conservation activities carried out by them during the said financial year. 

Council collected the energy conservation data on a prescribed performa from the stakeholders, where revealed that a total energy saving of 194.55 million units (MUs) have been achieved by adopting energy conservation measures. Further, this achievement of energy saving has resulted in the avoided generation capacity of 33.43 MW on the grid side. The energy auditing agencies have assessed energy saving potential of 47 MUs in MSMEs and Institutions, however, the implementation of energy conservation measures recommended by these agencies are under process.


Debate Competition on “Energy Efficiency & Conservation” for ITI, Diploma Engineering and Engineering Colleges Students

Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, has launched the National Awareness Campaign to promote energy conservation in the country. Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) being State nodal agency of BEE took the initiative to sensitize students and youth about energy conservation and management and assigned the task of conducting Zonal &State level Debate Competition amongst the students of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), Diploma Engineering Colleges and Engineering Colleges in the State to PSCST. 

PSCST, with support of Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training (DoTE & IT) conducted Six Zonal Level debate competitions for ITI students at Amritsar, Batala, Jalandhar, Patiala, Budhlada and Bassi Pathana in which 48 students participated in the competition and more than 1200 students were sensitized. 4 Zonal level debate competition for Diploma engineering colleges were conducted at Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala and Ludhaina wherein 107 students participated and more than 700 students were sensitized about energy efficiency and conservation. 

A State level Debate Competition for Engineering Students was also conducted at Chitkara University, Punjab. More than 70 students from 15 engineering colleges participated actively in the competition. 


Establishment of Energy Clubs in Schools

Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, has launched the National Awareness Campaign in the country for sensitizing school children about energy efficiency and conservation. Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) being a state nodal agency of BEE assigned the task to Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST) for sensitizing the youth by establishing energy clubs in the schools. PSCST selected 10-15 progressive schools (High Schools/Senior Secondary Schools) in each district and established 260 energy clubs in the state. Through various activities in these schools, more than 30,000 students were sensitized on the subject of Energy Conservation besides local public/residents of nearby areas during the National Energy Conservation Week celebration.  A State Level Capacity Building-cum-Orientation Workshop was also organized for DSSs and Energy Club In-charges. Around 300 DSSs & energy clubs in-charge (teachers) from the State participated in the event. The experts shared their case studies relating to their institute and also provided useful tips to fellow participants for energy conservation in day to day life.
